Kids Cafe is an after-school feeding program of the High Plains Food Bank, which partners with local agencies to provide a free -- hot -- nutritious meal to children. The Food Bank provides the meal and the partner agency provides the safe place and enrichment activities to nourish these children. These children who go to the Kids Cafe might go to bed hungry if these meals and partnerships were not in place. The history of how the Kids Cafe started is seeing a need and making resources available, read more here.
Amarillo Independent School District and High Plains Food Bank have partnered together providing over 100,000 meals each year to children. This partnership impacts many people; the children with a full belly, volunteers an opportunity to show they care to these children, and donors an opportunity to help a worthy cause.
The Kids Cafe does not turn any child away. A child may receive the meal by showing up at a site during service time and eat a homemade meal with their peers and enjoy the time of being a child.

About 2010's results:
"Just think how much we SAVED by helping feed these kids? We saved on medical bills by giving them a HEALTHY meal. We saved on legal bills by giving them a SAFE place to eat. We told them someone CARES about them and their future. We told them that they MATTER, they are important, their future is important. It wasn't just 144,000 meals, it was so much more!!" - Sherry Philyaw (friend of the Food Bank)
